Texas Auto Insurance

Texas Auto InsuranceThe State of Texas has a population of over 20 million people (2nd only to California in the U.S.) and is in the top ten fastest growing states in the nation. Population growth is concentrated in the major urban epicenters of Houston, Dallas, Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso, where approximately 30% of the total population lives. These cities constitute the largest non-standard auto insurance markets in the State of Texas.

The non-standard market in Texas is highly fragmented, not unlike the other major non-standard auto states. However, over the past few years the number of competitors has declined. Today, the dominant players tend to be companies that have been active in the marketplace over the longer term. These companies are generating profitable results, although a number of competitors have started to take much needed price increases after a period of increased price competition. The personal automobile market in Texas generates almost $10B in premiums annually. As such, Texas presently constitutes a very large and attractive non-standard marketplace where the realization of profits is expected for the foreseeable future.
